Is Tacoma Shuttle currently hiring? +
Yes. As of January 2026 we are actively hiring for three positions: Professional Chauffeur / Shuttle Driver, CDL Coach Bus Driver, and Dispatcher / Customer Service. All positions are based in Tacoma, WA.
What are the pay ranges? +
Sedan, SUV, and van chauffeurs earn $22–$32/hr plus tips. CDL coach drivers earn $28–$42/hr. Dispatchers earn $20–$28/hr plus performance bonuses. Pay is determined by experience, schedule (peak hours pay more), and performance metrics.
Do I need a CDL? +
No, not for most positions. Sedan, SUV, and passenger van (up to 14 passengers) require only a standard Washington State driver's license with a clean record. A CDL Class B with passenger and air-brake endorsements is only required for our 25-to-55 passenger coach bus positions.
What's the schedule like? +
Highly flexible. We have customers across every time slot — early-morning airport runs, daytime corporate transfers, evening events, late-night cruise pickups, weekend weddings. Full-time, part-time, weekends-only, mornings-only — we build the schedule around your availability.
Do you provide vehicles or do I drive my own? +
We provide all vehicles. You drive a Tacoma Shuttle vehicle, in a Tacoma Shuttle uniform, on Tacoma Shuttle dispatch. This is not a gig-app driving job where you provide your own car. You're a chauffeur, not a contractor.
How long does the hiring process take? +
Typically 2 to 3 weeks total: 1–3 days for application response, 1 week for phone screen and in-person interview, 3–5 days for background check, then paid ride-along training before your regular schedule starts.
Do you hire part-time only? +
Yes — many of our drivers are part-time. We have plenty of room for part-time chauffeurs who can do airport runs in early mornings, evening event work, or weekend weddings. Just be clear about availability when you apply and we'll build a fitting schedule.
What benefits do you offer? +
Pay, tips, flexible scheduling, paid training, modern vehicles, and supportive local dispatch. We can discuss benefits packages for full-time positions during the interview process based on your specific needs.
Can I apply if I'm new to Tacoma? +
Yes, but Tacoma area familiarity is a strong plus — especially knowing routes between Tacoma, Lakewood, Puyallup, Gig Harbor, JBLM, and SeaTac. If you're new, we look closely at your driving record and ability to learn quickly. Strong GPS skills help.
