01 · The Drive

A short run up SR-167 or I-5.

Auburn sits roughly 19 miles south of Seattle-Tacoma International — a comfortable short corridor that the SR-167 valley puts within easy reach. Two real routes work depending on the hour, and our dispatch monitors both in real time so we pick whichever is moving better the day of your ride.

From any Auburn pickup — downtown along Auburn Way, the Lea Hill plateau east of the SR-18 interchange, West Hill across the valley, or the Muckleshoot and Emerald Downs corridor along SR-164 — your chauffeur joins SR-167 or I-5 northbound and runs straight to Exit 154. There are no useful shortcuts; the freeways are the route.

SR-167 north is the typical default. It hugs the valley through Algona and Pacific before merging back to I-5 near Federal Way. The I-5 routing — west on SR-18 to I-5 north — is the alternative we use during peak commute hours when 167 backs up at Algona or near the 18 interchange. Both end at the same SeaTac terminal curb. Drive time runs 25 minutes off-peak, stretching toward 40 during the morning and afternoon rush.

For pre-dawn flights, Auburn's location is genuinely advantageous. A 4 AM pickup for a 6:30 AM flight is unhurried, with time for coffee. We've completed Auburn pickups in under 22 minutes door-to-curb at off-peak hours.

Option A · Default

SR-167 North → I-5

Through Algona and Pacific, merging to I-5 northbound near Federal Way. Faster off-peak, the most-used corridor from Auburn. Watch for slowdowns at the 18/167 interchange during the morning rush.

~19 mi · 25–38 min
Option B · Peak alternative

SR-18 West → I-5 North

West on SR-18 to I-5 northbound. Slightly longer mileage, more predictable during heavy 167 congestion or when an incident closes the valley corridor. Auburn West Hill pickups often start here.

03 · Auburn the destination

A real visitor city — casino, racing, music.

Auburn is a working city of about 87,000 residents, but it's also a destination. The Muckleshoot Casino, Emerald Downs thoroughbred racetrack, and White River Amphitheatre each draw thousands of out-of-state visitors a year — most of whom arrive at and depart from SeaTac. Add in the events at Auburn's Performing Arts Center, the Auburn International Farmers Market, and Green River College, and the city has a steady inbound and outbound tourism flow.

For visitors flying in for a concert weekend, a tournament, or a casino stay, we handle airport-to-venue and venue-to-airport runs as a regular part of our operation. For Auburn hotels hosting out-of-town guests, we provide flat-rate transfer service that's typically more comfortable and more reliable than rideshare's variable availability.

i
Muckleshoot Casino
Major regional gaming and entertainment venue operated by the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe — concerts, dining, and a full hotel. Frequent airport transfers for casino guests and entertainers.
ii
Emerald Downs
Pacific Northwest thoroughbred racetrack with a live racing season from spring through fall. Out-of-state racing connoisseurs, owners, and trainers arrive via SeaTac throughout the season.
iii
White River Amphitheatre
Major outdoor concert venue (operated on tribal land just southeast of the city) hosting national touring acts in summer. Concert-weekend airport runs are a steady part of our operation May through September.

Pickup ~2 hr 15 min before flight. Empty roads — the build-in is for TSA and curb-to-gate walking.

2.75hr
Peak northbound rush. SR-167 backs up at Algona; the wider buffer covers it without rushing.
9 AM – 3 PM Departure
2.25hr

3 PM – 8 PM Departure

09 · For frequent flyers

If you fly out of SeaTac monthly, we should be on file.

Auburn has a strong base of frequent SeaTac travelers — corporate consultants from the Lea Hill plateau, Green River College faculty traveling for conferences, Boeing-area employees on weekly client visits, downtown professionals, and the steady flow of casino and entertainment-industry travelers who arrive and depart through SeaTac multiple times a year.

For travelers like these, we maintain a profile: preferred vehicle class, preferred pickup address, car seats on file, water/no-water, music/silent. Each ride takes 30 seconds to book by text or phone — no re-entering information, no questions answered twice.

10 · Common questions

Questions we hear from Auburn riders.

How much is an Auburn to SeaTac ride?
Flat rates: Sedan $89, Premium SUV $119, Executive Van $199, and Sprinter $329. All flat one-way, no surge pricing, no airport surcharge added after the fact. Round-trip discounts available, and the same flat pricing applies whether you're departing from downtown Auburn, Lea Hill, West Hill, or the Muckleshoot/Emerald Downs corridor.
How long does the drive take?
Typically 25 to 40 minutes for the roughly 19-mile drive. The faster end is off-peak (mid-day, late evening, weekends); the slower end is the morning and afternoon commute windows. We build pickup times around the worst-case end of that range to keep you on schedule.
Which route do you take to SeaTac?
Two real options: SR-167 north through Algona and Pacific (our default, faster off-peak), or SR-18 west to I-5 north (better during peak commute or when 167 has an incident). Our dispatch monitors both freeways and picks whichever is moving better at the time of your ride.
Do you pick up from Muckleshoot Casino, Emerald Downs, or White River?
Yes. Muckleshoot Casino airport transfers are a frequent service for us — guests flying in for a weekend stay, entertainers between tour dates, and conference visitors. Emerald Downs runs through racing season; White River Amphitheatre is a concert-summer staple. All at flat-rate Auburn pricing, no event-day inflation.
Do you pick up from Lea Hill?
Yes — Lea Hill is one of our most-served Auburn neighborhoods. Whether you're near Green River College, off 124th Avenue SE, or anywhere on the plateau, the flat fare applies. Lea Hill pickups typically run 30–42 minutes door-to-curb given the additional time to reach SR-167 or SR-18.
What if my flight is delayed?
We track every inbound flight automatically and adjust pickup timing in real time. No rebooking fee, no waiting charges within the first hour after touchdown. You don't need to call us when the gate or arrival time changes — we already know, and we'll be at the curb when you are.
Can I book a return ride at the same time?
Yes, and we recommend it. Round-trip Auburn bookings get a single confirmation, one chauffeur assignment when possible, locked-in pricing both directions, and an automatic round-trip discount. Easier for you, easier for our dispatch.
Are car seats available?
Yes — infant, toddler, and booster seats are available on request at no extra charge. Auburn family pickups are a frequent use case for us. Mention it when you book and we'll have the right seat installed and ready.
Do you do shared rides?
No. Every Tacoma Shuttle ride is private. Only your party is in the vehicle. No detour to pick up strangers, no shared stops, no shared luggage hold. Even on the short Auburn run, the difference between private and shared service is significant.
How early should I be picked up?
For most domestic flights leaving 6 AM–9 AM, plan for a pickup 2 hours 45 minutes before departure. Off-peak flights, 2 hours 15 minutes is comfortable. International or first-time-flier? Add 30 minutes. We can recommend a specific pickup time based on your flight number and origin neighborhood.
Do you serve Pacific, Algona, and Sumner from this area?
Yes. Pacific, Algona, and the Sumner-adjacent addresses bordering Auburn are part of our regular service area. Pricing varies slightly by origin; contact dispatch for a flat-rate quote for your specific address.
How do I book?
Call (253) 666-6560, email support@tacomashuttle.com, or use the booking form. We confirm by email and text. Day-of, your chauffeur sends a "10 minutes out" message before arrival. Frequent flyers can book by text in seconds once a profile is on file.
