If you're flying into SeaTac for a weekend, on a layover with a free day, or staying in downtown Seattle with the mountain on your "must-see" list, this is the trip. We pick you up curbside at the airport, your hotel, or a Tacoma address; we drive the 60-mile route southeast to the Nisqually entrance; we spend the day inside the park; and we return you the same day. Total round-trip time is typically 9–10 hours door to door, with roughly 4–5 hours spent at park stops and the balance in transit.
Each tour visits the most photographed and most accessible spots in the Paradise Corridor — Longmire (the historic park headquarters), Christine Falls and Narada Falls (roadside cascades), Paradise (the main visitor center and meadow at ~5,400 ft elevation), and seasonally Reflection Lakes when Stevens Canyon Road is open. We adjust stops based on weather, season, your interests, and what's open the day you visit.

Our default Mt. Rainier tour follows the Paradise Corridor — the most scenic and accessible side of the park, accessed via the Nisqually entrance through Ashford. Below are the stops in geographic order from entrance to Paradise. Total stop time is approximately 4–5 hours; you choose how long at each.
Ashford is the gateway town to Mt. Rainier — a small mountain community along SR-706, home to lodges, restaurants, and the entry point for the Paradise Corridor. The Nisqually entrance is the park's only year-round vehicle entrance and the closest access to the most-visited spots.
6.5 miles inside the Nisqually entrance. The original park headquarters from 1916, a National Historic District with the Longmire Museum, the year-round National Park Inn, and the Wilderness Information Center. Short trails, historic exhibits, and stretching room after the drive in.
A short stop a few miles past Longmire — a roadside waterfall framed by a stone bridge, one of the most-photographed compositions in the park. Quick out-and-back; a few minutes is enough for the photo.
A 168-foot waterfall a few miles further up the road toward Paradise. A short paved overlook path from the parking lot; a steeper trail descends for a closer view. Mist and rainbows on sunny days.
The heart of any Mt. Rainier visit — 19 miles east of the Nisqually entrance, at ~5,400 ft elevation. The year-round Henry M. Jackson Visitor Center, the historic Paradise Inn (open summer only), the wildflower meadows in late July through August, and direct views of the summit on clear days. Multiple short trails from the parking area for the legs you've been wanting to use.

Tour pricing is a flat starting-from rate per vehicle for the full day. Below is what's included and what you'll separately pay for at the park.
If you're flying into SeaTac and staying overnight at an Ashford lodge before your park visit (or staying after, before flying out), we run direct one-way airport transfers separately from the tour service. No tour stops — just a direct drive between the airport and your lodge.
Ashford sits roughly 80 miles southeast of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, at the doorstep of the Nisqually entrance. The drive runs SR-7 south through Spanaway, then SR-706 east through Eatonville to Ashford — roughly 95 minutes off-peak, longer in summer afternoon traffic. The reverse trip mirrors it.

Mt. Rainier is genuinely accessible 12 months a year via the Nisqually entrance, but the experience varies dramatically by season. Here's what to expect — and which months we recommend for first-timers.
Snowmelt, waterfalls at peak flow, fewer crowds. Higher-elevation roads (Stevens Canyon, Sunrise) still closed. Paradise still has substantial snowpack into May.
Wildflower meadows at Paradise (mid-July through August), all roads open, Reflection Lakes accessible. Busiest season — early arrivals critical. We recommend July/August for first-time visitors.
Alpine fall colors (huckleberry, vine maple, mountain ash), thinning crowds, clear weather windows. Stevens Canyon Road usually open through October, weather permitting.
Snowshoeing, fresh snow, dramatic photography. Road from Longmire to Paradise closes nightly Nov–Apr, day-use only. Tire chains may be required; we carry them.
